Telangana govt announces de-addiction centres in all districts

The Telangana government announced that it has established at least one de-addiction centre in all 33 districts of the state to treat people addicted to alcohol or other drugs. Addicts are given free treatment, yoga therapy and counselling.

The setting up of new drug de-addiction centres in the state came a month after criticism from the High Court on the government’s delay in filing a response over the opening of such centres.

Akashvani correspondent reports that after the state reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, the residual state developed 18 de-addiction centres in 13 districts, while Telangana created none.
