Out to buy milk, 4-year-old Hyderabad girl slips into nallah, dies

A four-year-old girl died after falling into an open nallah in Hyderabad on Saturday morning. The four year old, identified as Mounika, a resident of Kalasiguda, was on her way with her brother to buy a packet of milk when she fell into the nallah. The girl got washed away.

According to police, Mounika slipped into an open nallah at around 7.30 am today morning and died due to drowning.

“This morning at around 7:30, a girl, identified as Mounika, along with her brother went out to get a milk packet. While she was on the way, near Kalasiguda school she slipped into an open nallah and died due to drowning. The body has been recovered. A case will be registered and the body has been sent for autopsy,” police said.

After receiving the information about the incident, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) DRF team and local police launched a massive search and finally traced the body and retrieved it. The family members of Mounika alleged she died due to the negligence of GHMC officials.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and police will register a case today. Further investigation is underway.
