Taihan Cable & Solution, a Korean manufacturer of electric wires and stainless steel products for power and communication sectors, has secured a 400kV extra high voltage (EHV) power network project in Kuwait.
The $42-million project was awarded by Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW).
As per the deal, Taihan will be responsible for the connection of the substation in Wafra area, located in southern Kuwait, with the power plant in the new city of Khiran and the substation in Sulaibiya with a 400kV underground power grid.
A major player in the global; power sector, Taihan supplies all materials, including 400kV ultra-high voltage cables and connecting materials, and carries out business in a turnkey manner, including power grid design, connection, and testing.
This is its second contract win this year and comes close on the heels of its snapping of a 380kV EHV power network project contract from Germany on January 5.
The contract from Germany’s TenneT involves the construction of 380kV underground cables in Germany to expand the transmission network necessary for environmentally friendly wind power generation.
As per the deal, Taihan will supply all materials including EHV cables and cable accessories, and will handle everything from power network design to cable laying, connection, and testing.
