Cyclone Sitrang kills 11 in Bangladesh, schools, colleges shut as heavy rainfall to continue

Cyclone Sitrang made landfall in Bangladesh on Monday. As many as 11 people were reported as casualties of the impact of the cyclone.

As many as 11 people were killed in six districts of Bangladesh after Cyclone Sitrang made landfall on Monday. The cyclone crossed the Bangladesh coast near Barisal between 9:30 pm and 11:30 pm on Monday after skirting the West Bengal coast, the meteorological department stated.

Among the 11 dead, two people died when a tree fell on them in the Bhola Sadar and Char Fasson areas. In Cumilla’s Nangalkot, three members of the same family were crushed under a tree. A mother and son duo died in a boat capsizing in Sirajganj.
