Abu Dhabi ranks 7th in best F1 city breaks

With Formula 1 expanding its calendar and adding exciting new races in iconic cities around the world, new research reveals Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit ranks 7th in best F1 city breaks.

The new study analysed non-pole-position race winners, hotel and restaurant proportions, and main airport review scores to rank the best F1 city breaks.

As drivers gear up to return to racing at the end of the month, F1 heads to Circuit Zandvoort, The Netherlands. This track is not only known for its speed but also for its unique location, highlighting the sport’s link to some of the world’s most beautiful places.

The best F1 city break destinations

Las Vegas can be crowned the best location for an F1 city break, scoring 6.20 out of 10. The city in Nevada saw 100% of winners starting outside of pole position. It also ranks second for travel time from the airport to the city centre and third for travel time from the city centre to the F1 circuit by car, at 16 minutes for each journey.

Up next is Budapest, with an overall score of 5.90 out of 10. The Hungarian capital has the third-highest average temperature throughout the event at 27ºC and also ranks third for its percentage of winners starting outside of pole position at 70%.

Rounding out the top three is Monte Carlo, with a score of 5.75 out of 10. The destination has the shortest travel times from the city centre to the race course by car and public transport, at eight and 10 minutes, respectively. It also scores well for its high proportion of four — and five-star hotels, at 72.7%, and its proportion of four — and five-star restaurants, at 74.6%.

Monte Carlo also has over half 55.6% percentage of winners starting outside of pole position.

The top three are followed by Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit in the fourth rank, Melbourne’s Albert Park in the fifth, Lusail’s (Qatar) Lusail International Circuit in the sixth, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit in the seventh, Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya in the eighth, Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Sao Paula’s (Brazil) Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace.
