The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Saudi Arabia’s condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that took place in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, resulting in the death and injury of dozens.
In a statement, the ministry said: “Saudi Arabia affirms its position rejecting violence, extremism, and targeting civilians. It also affirms its support for the government and people of Somalia during this affliction, expressing its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, the government, and the people of Somalia, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.”
Thirty-two people were killed in the attack, which took place on a popular beach in Mogadishu.
“More than 32 civilians were killed in this attack, and about 63 were injured, some of them seriously,” police spokesman Abdifatah Adan Hassan told reporters.
A suicide bomber detonated his explosives on Friday night on Lido beach, which is popular with businessmen and officials and has been the scene of previous attacks, police and witnesses said, before gunmen attacked the site.
